Through memories of my formative years, I can recall having an enthusiasm for the art of beauty and a compassion for people and nature. After working in the industry for over 12 years, I realized that these interests laid the foundation for what is now my passion and my career. Over these 12 years, I’ve had the honor of working alongside many talented and experienced hairstylists, all of whom helped me develop into a professional stylist early on. I first started at Honolulu Community College’s Cosmetology program, while also gaining experience apprenticing in a local salon. From there, I worked my way into becoming an independent hairstylist, continuing to build my clientele who have been a big support to me throughout the years, many of whom I consider to be a friend.
Eventually, in 2018, fellow hairstylist and friend, Anjalee Middleton and I decided to take our career to the next level and went on to open The Sustainery Hair Studio. Having the opportunity to build our business gave us the chance to give a little back to our Earth by creating a sustainable and eco-friendly salon. In hopes that our love for hair can also make a small impact on the health of our environment.
Since I am a firm believer in education and training, in 2018, I became an educator and trainer for the sustainable beauty brand Davines. Because I love to learn, I found teaching others to have that same passion has been a new and exciting experience. Over the years I have also attended many technical classes and training, learning new techniques and methods. I currently specialize in different types of hair cutting, coloring and special event up-styling. I love to be challenged and appreciate collaborating with other stylists to achieve every client’s ambition.
To me, connecting with clients on a personal level is one of the most important aspects of my profession. My goal with every client is to make them feel comfortable while in my chair and to provide an environment where they can be open and honest. To me, being a hairstylist is more than my job, it’s my passion and it’s my heart.
